Caring for cashmere
Five small habits that keep a cashmere sweater soft for years.
27 Oct 2026 · BRADICANE

Good cashmere gets better with wear — softer, lighter, more your own. A few simple habits keep it that way.
1. Let it rest
Give a sweater a day off between wears. The fibres recover their shape overnight.
2. Fold, never hang
Hanging stretches the shoulders. Fold it and store it flat in a drawer or on a shelf.
3. Wash less, and gently
Hand wash in cool water with a gentle wool wash, or have it dry cleaned. Never wring it — press the water out with a towel and dry it flat, away from heat.
4. Deal with pilling
A little pilling is normal at first, where the sweater rubs. Lift it away with a cashmere comb; it settles after the first few wears.
5. Protect it between seasons
Clean it before storing, then keep it in a breathable cotton bag with cedar.
